Tener and tener que - what's the difference

Today, something short but really useful. What's the difference between the verb tener and the construcion tener que. In fact, it's similar to the English structure. Meanwhile tener means to have, tener que means to have to. Let's see an example:

Hoy no tengo tiempo, tengo que estudiar / I don't have time today, I have to study.
