Smoking, cigarettes - Spanish vocabulary
Spain is full of smokers. Everyone who has visited this country knows that, in spite of the rising prices, many people in Spain keep smoking. What is more, some Spanish artist write songs about cigarettes, like for example El Niño de la Hipoteca and his song "Alquitrán y carmín". Vocabulary related to smoking is useful for both smokers and non-smokers. The members of this first group will need them to talk about their bad habit, the members of the second can use them to convince the first group to quit smoking.

El pitillo doesn't only mean cigarette. Pantalón pitillo means skinny jeans.
The verb esfumarse means “to disappear, to vanish”. Its relation to tobacco is strictly metaphorical.
The second and informal meaning of the word mechero is "shop-lifter".
Ash Wednesday in Spanish is Miércoles de ceniza.
Un cenizo or una ceniza, while talking about people, means "jinx". This is an informal expression though, if you need the official one it's better to use the word gafe.
