Spanish vocabulary

If you've landed here, it's probably because you are looking for some blogs to learn Spanish. And if you want to learn this language, you will obviously need a good list of Spanish vocabulary with translation into English! Yes, you will find loads of them here, but before you jump to the different sections, have you ever thought...

Why do we have to learn vocabulary in a foreign language?

Vocabulary is part and parcel of the learning process. What is more, nouns, adjectives, adverbs and infinitives can be much more useful in emergency situations abroad than the grammar rules themselves. Indeed, even if a sentence like “yo querer comida” would scare the majority of Spanish teachers, we can't deny that “querer” and “comida” perfectly show our needs in difficult circumstances without using correct grammar structures.

Furthermore, we need vocabulary to talk about our likes and dislikes. Very often, we think we don't need to know certain words because we won't use them in our lives. In reality, you don't have to be a chatterbox to start talking about “the best tips to pluck your eyebrows” or “how to make blackheads disappear from your face”, sooner that you could even imagine.

Native speakers are not human dictionaries, even if they teach

At this point it's important to mention one thing. It's impossible to know every single Spanish word. How could it be possible if even Spanish native speakers are unable to tackle this challenge? Do you know every single word, construction and grammar rule in your native language? If you do (and you have checked this out), you are probably an alien... At the end of the day we are only human, which is why you should never get depressed just because in one precise moment you forget how to say “to milk a cow” or “egg yolk” in Spanish. Having a good level of any language does not mean knowing “all” the words. That's what dictionaries are for!

So what this section is for?

In this section you will find lists of Spanish vocabulary related to different aspects of life. You can use them as a starting point to create your own list, mind map or whatever you want. At first glance you may get scared of the amount of new words. You should not though. Nothing is impossible, to achieve your goals you just need time and ponerte las pilas.

Enjoy!!!
