What´s the difference between tu and tú in Spanish?
Meaning of tu and tú in Spanish
While speaking you can´t hear difference between tu and tú, however while writing you should be careful, because our little cute accent can significantly change the meaning of the sentence. Why ? Basically because tu and tú are not the same thing.
Tú
Is a personal pronoun which can be used alone or to accompany the verb. Examples :
¿Y tú ? ¿Qué haces ? ¿Estudias o trabajas ? - And you ? What do you do in your life ? Are you working or are you studying ?
Yo lavo el coche y tú friegas los platos– I clean the car and you do the dishes
Tu
Is a possessive pronoun which is placed before the noun. A good example will be:
tu coche – your car
tu vida – your life

In order to better memorize the difference between those two elements, you could use a phrase like this:
¿Y tú ? ¿Por qué nunca quieres hablar de tu pasado ? - And you ? Why do you never want to talk about your past ?
